Drawer organizers

It's a little but ridiculous that I've lived in my house for 3 years and it's taken me this long to organize my bathroom drawer. All it took were three long, skinny trays. Now all the little things that have been flying around my drawer have a home! And I'm thankful that my drawer will stay a little more tidy.

The Olympics

I love that every four years the world gets together for some friendly competition. I especially love the summer Olympics. I could watch gymnastics, swimming, diving, running, and volleyball all day. Too bad I can't take the next couple weeks off to sit home and watch the games! Oh well. I'm thankful it's being recorded at my house and I can watch what I want after work!

A car nap

I can't even remember the last time I got to sleep in the car on a road trip. For the past few years I've either been the driver, or the only passenger (which means no sleeping because that's no fun for the driver!). But this weekend I rode down to St. George with Jared and his family. I didn't get nearly enough sleep this weekend and I was tired! I'm thankful that I could close my eyes for a bit and drift off to sleep. It wasn't the good, long sleep I really need, but it was still good.

Benja Thai

We had a delicious dinner tonight at a little Thai place in St. George. They can make things gluten free. I had the yellow curry and it was delightful! I thankful I got to eat there with my family!

Phantom of the Opera

The CD played at my house a lot growing up. I know all the songs by heart. I'm thankful for the opportunity I had to see the shoe in Vegas tonight with my mom!!

Family thankful fors

When I was in college my roommates and I used to pray together at night. After the prayer we would say one thing that made us happy that day. I taught the concept to Jared and Wendee's family. That's how nightly "thankful fors" were born. Jared and Wendee still do it with their kids. (I do it with this blog). Tonight we're all in St. George together. Tonight we said a prayer and then we all shared something we were thankful today. I loved every minute.

Surprise visits

I made three today! First, Chris and I visited my Grandma Valentine. She's not doing very well. It wouldn't surprise me if her time left on this earth was short. She's so frail and tired. It was hard to see her like that, but I know she appreciated the visit. After Grandma, Chris and I visited my uncle Jim. Unfortunately my aunt Linda was in Boise so we didn't get to see her. But that's okay, I always love visiting with Jim. And last, on our way home I made a quick stop to visit my old college roommate and good friend Katie. She lives just off the freeway outside of Pocatello and I couldn't be so close and not stop by! (Chris chose to wait in the car.) I'm grateful for the visits we made today. And I'm very thankful that these three people were home when we stopped!!

My brother's memory

I had Chris over for dinner a little more than a week ago. It was fun. While he was here we decided we really should go up to Blackfoot, ID to visit our grandma. She hasn't been doing so well since my grandpa passed away last summer. Chris and I made plans to go up there tomorrow since we both have the day off for Pioneer Day. I totally forgot, but Chris remembered! He texted me today and we're all set to head up there tomorrow. My grandma's going to be so happy!

Lightning

Lightning will always remind of my dad. I remember being a very little girl and watching lightning while sitting on the lawn chair on our back porch. When a thunderstorm would wake me up in the middle of the night, I always snuck in the bed on my dad's side. When I sick or sad, I wanted my mom. But when I was scared, I wanted my dad. Tonight I watched the lightning and I was thankful that my dad protected me from "scary" things when I was little.

WICKED

I've waited a long time to see the musical Wicked! I went to NYC twice and wasn't able to see it either time. It came to Salt Lake a few years ago and I tried to get tickets, but they sold out within hours of starting sales! Now they're back in Utah and I finally got to see it! It was so fantastic! I loved every minute of it! I'm thankful for my big brother who bought my ticket! Thanks Jared!

Flat irons

I straighten my hair almost every day. This morning I was in the middle of straightening when my flat iron died!! I'm thankful Krista had one I could borrow to finish my hair for today. And I definitely had to buy a new one this afternoon!

Cell phone cases

I am so thankful for my phone!  And I'm thankful for the case that protects my phone when I drop it...and I do drop it!  It's nothing fancy, it's nothing expensive, but it gets the job done.  I'm thankful for the added security because I don't know what I would do if I didn't have my phone!

Boating

My mom sold her boat this summer and I was sad to see it go! But luckily for me, I have a couple of great friends who invited me to go to the lake with them today! Sometimes you just gotta skip work and spend a Wednesday morning on the lake! (Don't worry. I told my boss I was skipping work to go to the lake - he was fine it). There's not much in this world that live more than the hot sun + water + friends + music + wake surfing + the wind in my hair + not working!! It was so much fun. I really hope I have an opportunity to go with them again!

A clean garbage can

I love my house, but sometimes I hate the home owners association. They just don't understand that in the summer time, the big city garbage can STINKS!! I know it doesn't look the best out front, but I'd much rather that than have that smell penetrate my entire garage, my car, and even my house!! But they don't care. They just leave me a notice and threaten to fine me if I leave the can out. The past 2 weeks have been horrible! So stinky! Today I broke down and scrubbed that nasty, dirty, rancid garbage can. I filled it up with water and soap and febreeze this morning and let it soak all day. Then I took a mop to it and scrubbed. It was gross. But now it's clean...er, it's cleaner than it was. And it doesn't smell. Hopefully we can keep it that way for a while!!

Things that smell good

I'm NOT thankful for the way my big, black, city garbage can smells right now. I'm pretty sure I'm going to have to wash it out after it gets emptied tomorrow. It is nasty!! But I am thankful for the way my purple sweatshirt smells. We had a ward boating day on Saturday and it was fun...until it started raining. Krista and I were leaving, but there was a guy in our ward who had to stay. The people in one of the boats drove off for some fun while his stuff (towel, shirt, phone, etc) were still on the boat. Since I was leaving, I offered him my sweatshirt, which he took, even though it was purple. It was cold!! Tonight he returned it. It smells like a man! And I like it! Maybe eventually I'll wash it...maybe!!

A new calling

I'm not sure I can call it a new calling - I get to teach Relief Society...again. The first calling I got in my singles ward here was Relief Society teacher. I taught for almost 2 years. Then I was called to be a ward missionary and I've been doing that for just about a year. And now - its back to Relief Society teacher. Honestly, I don't mind. I really enjoyed teach RS. I'm thankful I got a little break for a while to be a missionary and I'm thankful to go back to a once a month calling!

A new table

When I moved into my house, I was given a free dining table and chairs. It wasn't in the best shape, but my mom demonstrated her mad sewing skills and reupholstered the chairs for me. The table has served us well, but it has been driving me nuts for quite a while now. I've been looking at tables on the KSL classifieds for a long time! I hadn't seen any sets I was in love with...until this week. I found one. I loved it. I bought it! (Thank you 4th of July bonus!) Now we have a beautiful table. Hooray!

A basketball break

My co-workers and I had to pump up some basketballs for a camp that starts on Monday. This process involved the three of us gathering the balls, checking the air pressure, and filling them up as necessary. It also involved a little fun! Picture a 5'2" super cute lady dribbling a basketball (with her fake nails) while wearing high heels. And then picture the laugh we had when we made our boss show us the video from the security camera. Let's just say it made for a lot of laughs this afternoon!!

Car insurance

I got rear ended on my way home from work today. It wasn't too bad, but it was an F-350 super duty so it did some damage. Then, not even 2 hours later, my roommate hit my car pulling out of the driveway. Again, it's not terrible, but there's some damage. Seriously? Who gets hot twice in one day!? I'm thankful neither was my fault and I'm thankful both the people that hit me have car insurance!!

Real people

I love people who are real, people who are genuine, people that are brave enough to be who they are regardless of anything other people may think. I'm thankful for the chance I have associate with some amazing, real people! I'm thankful for their example.

My dinner dates

I had dinner tonight with 4 beautiful girls! My old roommates Amber, Jen, and Natalie, and Natalie's daughter Kylee. It was SO good to see them! Natalie is living in Salt Lake and Jen and Amber are in Provo. I loved chatting and laughing with them. I love that we can go so long without seeing each and then catch right up. I love that we're already planning to get together again - this time for a sleepover at my house! My roommates are leaving me home alone in a few weeks. There's a weekend ward activity, but I have to stay home to be in charge of a race for work. The girls are going to come run the race and then come to my house for a sleepover! Should be fun!

Old photos

I found a box of pictures from high school. To say they were entertaining to look through would definitely be an understatement. I can't wait to scan them in and post them on Facebook so all my old friends enjoy the entertainment with me!!

Quality mom time

I just totally love my mom. She's probably the one person in this world who just gets me. Today I'm so thankful that she is feeling better. I'm thankful that I could spend this weekend with her!!

MRIs

I have a hip injury. I'm not sure what's wrong. The doctor's not sure what's wrong. He suspects it may be a stress fracture or a cartilage tear. I'm praying it's neither one of those! He sent me to get an MRI. It sounds simple enough, but it has been a ridiculous process! I finally had my MRI this morning. If I would have known beforehand that this procedure involved a six inch needle going all the way into my hip joint TWICE, I probably would have reconsidered!! Ouch!! But I'm glad it's done. Hopefully I will hear back from my doctor soon with some good news!

Rain

I live in a desert. Sometimes I forget that. But recently, it's been very obvious. There has been fire after fire after fire. It's been a little but scary. On Sunday, a lot of stakes planned a special fast that we might be blessed with some moisture. And today, we were! It wasn't much, but we'll take what we can get!!

That's the number of people that participated in my race today. I was super nervous to have that many, but everything ran as smooth as can be! I love my job!

My team

Today was a CRAZY day at work! We have some big events on the 4th of July - including a race that I am in charge of. There is no way I could have pulled everything together for the race tomorrow without some serious help from my co-workers. It is fabulous to know that I have a team of people willing to help me!!

Big cereal bowl

Cereal just tastes better out of a big bowl (even if it's full). I got to eat out of one of my mom's big cereal bowls this morning.

Comfy clothes

I showered this morning and put my comfy clothes on. It was just one of those days. I'm especially thankful for the workout capris I got from Costco. They're definitely my favorite comfy clothes. Good thing I have 4 pair!!
